𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐞 - 𝐁𝐞𝐒𝐮𝐖𝐞

Ever found yourself at that "whatever, just make a decision“ point? Naming my new online business, BeSuWe, was harder that I anticipated and led to both challenges and valuable lessons. This is the simple version:

𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚:

•Short and Sweet

•Easy Flow - No Tongue Twisters

•Securing the .Com Domain

•Must Include the word "Surf"

𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝:

•Nearly every decent domain with "Surf" was already taken.

•Many of those already purchased domains were not being used.

•Buying a pre-owned domain is as expensive as beachfront property.

𝐆𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐲𝐦:

When my initial naming ideas hit a dead end, I turned to acronyms.

Using FUBU (Daymond John’s Fashion Company) as my confirmation that an acronym could work, I began coming up with keywords that described my brand as I envisioned it. 

Playing with the words 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡, 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐟, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐝, it was my wife who discovered that using the first two letters of each word might be a novel idea.

Dropping BeSuWe into GoDaddy, I was met with the wonderful word: "Available."

With that, I made the domain purchase, threw my laptop over my shoulder, and declared, "That's it, we're done."

And that is how the quirky name BeSuWe came to be...in case you were wondering.
